BILL MACK- The Loneliest Fool In Town (Starday 453)
I have long loved this number and have had it ready to
go for some time. I had planned to run it with the flipside which was Mack's update of the old story of Frankie and Johnny. It was around the time that Mack recorded this that he was a DJ for KDAV up in Lubbock. Then this morning I got a much dreaded phone call. My little bro has been struggling with a few demons for some time. Always needing to be loved, and always settling for that love. Which throws him into cycles of short elation followed by long, drawn out bouts of depression. He's alluded to taking his life and this morning my mama found him almost there.
I loved "The Loneliest Fool In Town" by Bill Mack because of its feel... so much heartbreak. So much loss. So much hurt. But the "I" of the song has accepted that he's "sorrow bound". That's his lot for this life... or at the very least this night or this week. My little bro isn't that strong. But maybe none of us are.
So I sit, as another kind of fool, waiting for the phone to ring to see what needs to be done, to see who needs to go where. Never been able to really sit and talk to you brother, but please dear God...

I've never intended for this to be a personal outlet. It's not really about my life in the present.
Prayers and thoughts...

UPDATE: Bro's okay... physically.
